Justin steps out of the Darkness

+ posted by FlamingWhopper

IT’S good to see JUSTIN HAWKINS, former frontman of THE DARKNESS, hasn’t lost his sense of humour.

He looked as wacky as ever, performing with new band HOT LEG at the London Games Festival in Trafalgar Square this weekend.

While Justin is concentrating on his new group, former bandmate FRANKIE POULLAIN has written a book on his own wild rock ’n’ roll time in The Darkness.

In Dancing In The Darkness, the bassist reveals how he introduced a porn star to LEMMY from Motorhead as a peace offering, and gave up a chance to pull actress KIRSTEN DUNST.

Frankie says he was never heavily into drugs preferring the ladies.

Justin should learn a lesson from him as he attempts to make it big second time around.

Florida-based metallers TRIVIUM and former THE DARKNESS frontman Justin Hawkins will be the featured guest on UK's "The Rock Show" on Sunshine Radio with Jeff Collins on Sunday, November 2 between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. (UK time).

You can listen to the program via the Internet at www.sunshine-radio.net.

"Shogun", the new album from TRIVIUM, sold just under 24,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 23 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD follows up "The Crusade", which opened with 31,000 copies in October 2006 to land at No. 25.

"Shogun" was released in North America on September 30 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was mixed in London by Colin Richardson (SLIPKNOT, MACHINE HEAD, FEAR FACTORY, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, NAPALM DEATH), with Jeff Rose and Martin "Ginge" Ford assisting on engineering duties.

Justin Hawkins unveiled his new band HOT LEG at a concert in London on August 6. The group played a set of cock-rock numbers, in a similar vein to THE DARKNESS, and covered two songs entitled "The Power Of Love" one by HUEY LEWIS AND THE NEWS, the other by JENNIFER RUSH, both massive UK hits in 1985. The band then finished with a version of THE DARKNESS' "I Believe In A Thing Called Love".

Justin Hawkins Interviewed @ RushOnRock.com

Here at rushonrock we like to remember Justin Hawkins as a fresh-faced hair metal God in his pomp rock prime, playing to a sell-out crowd at Newcastle University’s sweaty underbelly of a live venue. And it seems the old boy hasn’t really changed. With new band Hot Leg ready to give Extreme a run for their money at Newcastle City Hall next month we caught up with Mr Darkness himself.

rushonrock: When did you decide to put Hot Leg together and was there ever any doubt about the type of band it would be?

Justin Hawkins: The decision about what kind of band we were going to be was never an issue. We’ve been working on the album for a while now and it was always going to be a straight rock record. It’s always been my thing and I won’t change. Finding the right guys to do my thing with has been a challenge. I found our drummer Darby in January. He’s inhumanly good and he recommended Sam and he, in turn, recommended Pete. Everybody’s got the same sense of humour, everybody’s into the same kind of thing and it’s been really lovely.

THERE was barely room to mosh as rock fans flooded an Exeter guitar show for a chance to see some of their idols perform.

The Mansons Guitar Show not only produced heavyweight rock stars in its line-up at the Riverside Leisure Centre, but gave fans a glance at some of the latest technology in the music world.
